The Icon of Banpo Han River Park

In 2011, the Sebit DungDungSeom (3 Floating Lantern Islands) was constructed for the Han River Renaissance Project. The islands were constructed in front of one of the wealthiest place in the Gangnam Area called Banpo Dong. Banpo Dong, famous for attractions such as the JW Marriott, Express Bus Terminal, Shinsegae Department Store, is also one of the most expensive districts due to its accessibility to 3 different subway lines. Well known residences include the Xi Apartment (2008) and Samsung Raemian Firstige Apartment (2009).

Facilities in the Artificial Islands includes cafe, restaurant, and convention centre.
To find more about this island, such as events, and opening hours, website is also offered in English, as well as Korean.

Here are some pictures of the Banpo Han River Park during the daytime.
Back of the Sebit Island is the Han River. The tall building located back of the artificial island is one of the newest housing built by Samsung C&T (goes by the brand name "Raemian"). It is located in Youngsan-Gu, an area famous for the US base and Itaewon. Like Gangnam, there are many luxurious housings, such as the "Beaverly Hills" of Korea (UN Village), and Chairman of Samsung Lee Kun Hee's house is located in Itaewon Dong in Youngsan Gu.
This island, going by the name Chavit, is one of the 3 artificial islands of Banpo Han River Park. On the right, you can see a bridge extending across the Han River. This is a famous bridge, called Banpo Bridge. It is one of the major bridges many Koreans drive on to go to work in Jongno-Gu, where many Companies are headquartered in, as well as the Presidential Housing (The Blue House). Banpo Bridge also has a road on ground level (as you can see in the picture), called Jamsu-Gyo. It is not always open, due to possible flooding.
This is a full picture of the 3 Sebit Islands together. Starting from the left is Gavit, Chavit, and Solvit.
The Banpo Han River Park, as you can see in this picture, is not small. Many people find this park as an urban oasis, located in one of the busiest area in the world.
Parking is limited, especially during the summer time when it is crowded. The Banpo Han River Park definitely is a great place to check out in Seoul. It is one of the few parks that reside in the urban Gangnam area of Seoul. Feel the breeze of summertime along with great view of the "Miracle of the Han River".
